Some pictures of my first home in Guatemala, Antigua
There
are 3 volcanoes that surround Antigua and this one’s name is Agua. The community I worked in, Santa Maria
de Jesus, is half way up this extinct volcanoe.
This
is a picture of one of the city streets in Santa Maria de Jesus. The clothing the women are wearing is
hand-made and the design is specific to this community, other communities
have their own designs.
They
make an even bigger deal of their independence day (Sept 15) than we
do. This is a school that is
getting ready for their parade.
On
independence day everyone has their clothes clean and are all primped up.

they have a festival, with rides.

the bands play.
